Golden Bears Win Over Liberty Patriots 10-1!!
Nov 26, 2025 - (Lewis Center, OH) -- The Golden Bears decided to feast early going into the holiday weekend stuffing the net like a Thanksgiving turkey as they downed the Olentangy Liberty Patriots 10-1 on Wednesday.
The scoring was led by upperclassmen as Tate Rook(#15), Connor Hagkull(#22), and Ben Spence(#16) all made an appearance on the scoresheet -- Rook accounted for 9 points total, tallying a nasty hatty plus six assists. The lopsided contest allowed for minor some adjustments to playing time and several up-and-coming Freshmen and Sophomores also got in on the action putting pucks in the back of the net. Sophomore, Myles Bednar (#56) tallied his first Varsity goal of the season and Freshman, Luca Macedonia (#34) turned on the red light in the 3rd period.
Sophomore Finn Otis (#41) was in goal for the Bears and managed to frustrate Liberty's scoring efforts letting in only one goal... which accidentally went in off one of his own defensemans' sticks. The bad bounce prompted onlookers from both sides to question whether the performance technically or perhaps unofficially should have stood as a shutout. No matter; like the native Americans shared the gift of maize with early pilgrim settlers, the Bears no doubt felt confident the cornucopia flowed like the great horn or Almathea with enough goals that one could be left for the home team until their next meeting.
The Ice Bears emerged victorious from the rare mid-week contest having something to celebrate and be thankful for going into the weekend. They'll travel after the holiday to take on St. Edwards and Sault Ste. Marie (Mich) on Saturday and Sunday at the Winterhurst Ice Arena in Lakewood, OH.
GO BEARS!!
