Alumni

"You must know the past,

to understand the present,

and to make the future."

Welcome Home!

Upper Arlington Ice Hockey has a storied history and is ever striving to towards its future with each season. A shared love of the great game of hockey bonds players and families over the years and those who take to the ice today, learn so much from those who have skated on it before them.

To honor and appreciate those who built and passed this program down is a privilege. To do that, Golden Bears skating today want to remain connected to our alumni community and invite players, parents, friends and fans from past seasons to remain a part of our ever growing UA hockey community.

The UA Ice Hockey Association recently created this new website and wants to build a place for Alumni to tell their stories, connect, and stay connected with the program. Check back regularly as collect photos, feature distinguished alumni, and update you on where players have gone on to find success both on and off the ice!

UA Athletics Hall of Fame

*** 2025 Inductee ***

Andy Grindley, Class of 2007

In 2025, Andy Grindley, was inducted into the Upper Arlington Athletic Hall of Fame -- the first ever UA Hockey player to be recognized with this distinct honor.

Andy Grindley’s career from 2003-2007 stands out as one of the most impressive in Upper Arlington history. At the time of his graduation, he ranked first in Ohio with 185 career goals and third in career points with 322. His single-season goal record of 69 ranked third in the state at his graduation and remains one of the highest in Ohio history.

The 2024-25 team was honored to welcome Andy and his family to the Ohio Health Ice Haus in January 2025 where he spoke to the team members in the locker room pre-game, and then participated in a ceremonial puck-drop before the Golden Bears took on rival St. Charles playing to a tied game. (Don't worry, Andy stuck with the boys and we all know how the season ended!)

It was a great honor to host an such an Ice Bear Alum and connect generations of hockey players who have worn the UA jersey.
